How to assess your progress

Hard to believe, but 2022 is halfway over. (I know.) So it’s the perfect opportunity to do a mid-year review—then set your goals and intentions for the rest of the year.

You might be wondering if there’s a difference between goals and intentions. Goals are concrete, measurable things you want to accomplish. Intentions, on the other hand, are more about how you want to feel and what you want your experience to be—and they’re actually the secret to reaching your goals (because let’s face it: if working toward them feels miserable, you’re not going to do it). And yes, you do get to decide. When you choose who you want to be as you reach for what you want, you’re essentially pointing your brain in the right direction rather than letting it wander aimlessly.

With that in mind, here are some questions to ask yourself:

*How far have you come on the goals you set at the beginning of the year?

*Why? Really be honest with yourself—and whether you’ve already succeeded or have missed the mark, focus on your part (rather than, say, the publishing industry’s role) in the reason. Because that’s what you can actually do more of or change.

*What do want to accomplish during the second half of the year?

*How do you want to feel as you work toward those goals?

*What do you need to let go of?

*What support do you need or changes should you make in order to uplevel your career and/or personal life?

*Imagine it's the end of the year and you reached all of your goals. Now, what actions do you think you took in order to succeed? Make a list—then go do those things.

Here’s to an amazing rest of the year.
