First-time novelist?

Learn how to find support, safeguard your mental health, and set yourself up for longterm success as an author.

My debut, The Art of Forgetting, sold at auction for six figures—then tanked upon publication, prompting my publisher to drop me. The experience was the opposite of what I envisioned when I dreamed of becoming an author. In fact, it torpedoed my self-esteem and derailed my fiction career. I’m not alone: more than half of authors say publishing their debut negatively impacted their mental health—and just 22% reported an overall positive experience with their first publication, according to a new survey from The Bookseller.

But publishing your first novel can be positive—and put you on the path to longterm success. Since my debut, I’ve published nine more books that have sold nearly a million copies. As a master certified coach, I’ve also helped hundreds of writers navigate the publishing process—and if you’re a debut author, I’d love to help you, too.

In this free, 1-hour training video, I share strategies for:

  • Finding the support you need to succeed (even on a non-existent budget)

  • Setting boundaries and taking steps to safeguard your mental health

  • Using your debut as a launchpad for a marketable author brand and an even better sophomore novel
